Pete's favorite question:  You're telling me that my coin is only worth $10, but I saw the same thing on eBay for $6,000.  Why is that?

Answer:  Condition is everything!  Even if you believe your coin is in "excellent" condition ~ and it might be ~ if I've only offered you $10 for it, TRUST ME, it's not worth anywhere near $6,000.  For example, if you have a 1922 silver dollar in "excellent" condition, it might be worth $10.  However, the same coin that's been certified as "Matte Proof 65" by PCGS or NGC will be worth many thousands of dollars ~ and I would pay many thousands of dollars for it!  While we're on that subject, a "proof" coin is actually manufactured differently than a normal coin ~ proof coins are made especially for collectors and they're made with specially polished dies that give the coins highly mirrored surfaces, and they're handled very carefully by Mint employees as they're packaged for sale to collectors.  Not all proof coins are worth more than other coins, though ~ like anything else, it all comes down to rarity and desirability.

If you're thinking about buying coins that were NOT produced and/or packaged by the US Mint, and if you're buying them as an investment, BE CAREFUL!  They might be very hard to resell  (or hard to sell for anything close to what you're paying for them!)

What do you pay for "junk" silver?

Please see our calculation on the "home" page of the CoinBidders.com web site.  Just plug the current "spot" price into the formula and "do the math" to see what we're currently paying for "junk" silver dimes, quarters and half dollars.

Silver dollars dated 1935 and earlier are more valuable than "junk" silver.  Please call Pete for details.

Please note that we also buy sterling silver flatware -- single pieces and entire sets!

What do you pay for gold & silver bullion coins?

Because of the constantly fluctuating "spot" prices for precious metals, we ask that you please see the CoinBidders.com "home" page for current metals quotes.  If you have any questions, just give us a call!

How do you pay?

For smaller deals ($5,000 or less), we can pay cash if you prefer ~ but please let us know in advance if you prefer cash.  For deals over $5,000, we prefer to pay by check but we can sometimes make other arrangements if necessary.

How should I clean my coins?

You shouldn't!!  Cleaning or polishing a coin can drastically reduce its value.

Do you buy foreign coins, stamps, paper money or other collectibles?

We only buy foreign coins if they're gold, and sometimes foreign silver coins.  We do buy old US paper money but we do not usualy buy stamps or other collectibles, unless they're made of gold or silver.  (However, we've been known to buy Hummel figurines in the past, so give us a try -- you never know!)
